I've used it on both a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 and on a 2019 Silverado 2500. All Aluminum rack custom built. There are wooden spacers to adapt it to the Stake Pockets. (I had to adjust for difference in the stake pockets.
you can tie down kayaks to the brackets or you can mount kayak designed holder to the cross bars. The ones pictured you can purchase for a reasonable fee.
