Petty Spurge (Euphorbia peplus) has been used for many centuries by multiple cultures as a traditional remedy for various skin lesions and other issues. This includes warts, corns, actinic keratosis, and basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) as well as squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs).
The sap contains a compound that has been shown to inhibit rapid cell proliferation, making it effective in treating non-melanoma skin cancers. The sap from the plant stems is carefully applied directly to the affected area, eventually causing the undesirable growth to slough off.
A PubMed research paper titled "The sap from Euphorbia peplus is effective against human nonmelanoma skin cancers" found Euphorbia peplus sap effective in treating BCCs, SCCs, and intraepidermal carcinomas (IECs).
The study can be found at: PMID 21375515.
Petty Spurge continues to be a subject of interest in both traditional and modern medicine due to the unique properties of the plant, and its historical significance in treating skin conditions.
This plant is native to Europe, north Africa, and western Asia. It has been naturalized in Australia, New Zealand, and parts of North America, including limited locations in the United States. Online seed sources are limited, with most suppliers located in Australia or New Zealand and not shipping to the USA. Other online sources are inactive or out of stock.
Several years ago I started propagating Petty Spurge for personal use. Impressed with my own results, a decision was made to grow plants for seed production. I can now offer these seeds to the general public.
Please do your own research on the use of this plant. While it is easy to grow, it has to be used carefully to be safe. The sap can harm the eyes and mucous membranes (mouth, nose) if it gets into them. Responsible adult use is essential.
ORDERING INFORMATION:
These Petty Spurge seeds are being made available at no charge to anyone who needs them for healing. Why? It has been said, Freely you have received, freely give. And, Treat others as you would want to be treated. We are called to help one another.
Seed harvesting note:
To insure a regular supply of petty spurge, you will need to be able to collect your own seeds from some of the plants you are growing. Take a close look at the pictures above: this is a growing tent we use to collect the seeds. They are grown indoors (basement area), and lit by LED grow lights. The frame is made of PVC, and the fabric is gardening cloth used for row covers, etc. It is very thin and allows air to circulate while preventing the seeds from flying out of the enclosure when they are released. One end has a flap that can be opened and closed for access (watering, etc.) and the whole frame can be easily lifted off to harvest the seeds, move plants, and so on. You can get the general idea here, and modify it to your own particular situation.
If you want to make a contribution to help continue this seed distribution, contact information is included with your order. It is completely voluntary, so do not feel obligated.
To request seeds, email me with your mailing information. It will not be shared or used for anything else. Thank you for reading.
